From today until Sunday, more than 150 WONY alumni will be at their alma mater to celebrate the occasion, with many manning the DJ booth at 90.9 FM.
Former SUNY Oneonta men’s soccer player Ralph Perez ’73 has been awarded the 2012 Walt Chyzowych Memorial Fund Lifetime Achievement Award. The award is given in conjunction with the NSCAA Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Perez is currently the head men’s soccer coach at the University of Redlands in California. The Walt Chyzowych Award is given annually to recognize and give thanks for a person’s lifetime of dedication to preserving the spirit of the game of soccer, advancing its level of play and promoting its growth and development among youth and adults nationwide.March 19, 2012
ONEONTA -- SUNY Oneonta's record of community service was recognized for the sixth year in a row. The college was recently named to the President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll. A passion for traveling and exploring the globe will soon take a State University College at Oneonta junior to a country often in the news, but not a popular tourist spot.
Shawn Dacey talked about his upcoming trip to North Korea on Friday. It is part of a journey he has been planning for about a year, which will include stops in China and South Korea.
Dacey, 21, a geography and social studies education major who graduated from Delhi Central School in 2009, said his love of cartography and geography dates back to when he was 4. That is when his parents bought the Encarta 95 digital encyclopedia for the family computer. He enjoyed looking at the pictures of all the different countries and using the maps, he said.

The Oneonta State women's basketball teams NCAA run came to a halt tonight as they fell to host King's College 56-42 in the opening round. This was the Red Dragons first trip to the NCAA tournament since 2001 after winning the SUNYAC championship. Oneonta finishes its season with an overall record of 19-9.
Oneonta State's women are in, but Hartwick College is on the waiting list. Samantha Szkotak scored a game-high 20 points and Madison Slagle had a double-double Saturday, when third-seeded Oneonta State knocked off top-seeded host Buffalo State, 50-41, in the SUNY Athletic Conference Tournament women's basketball championship game. In winning the conference's tournament title, the Red Dragons (19-8) earned an automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Tournament for the first time since 2001.January 5, 2012

SUNY Oneonta Named to Kiplinger’s Top 100
The SUNY Oneonta men’s soccer team’s magical run through the NCAA Division III tournament was halted Friday, Dec. 2, by the Calvin College Knights in the national semifinals, 4-2, ending Oneonta’s best season in nearly 40 years. Chris Schuler, the head coach of the men's and women's swimming and diving teams at SUNY Oneonta, will contribute to the fight against cancer again this year doing what she does best—swimming. On August 13, Schuler will participate in a 5K swim at Morgan Park in Glen Cove, New York, as part of the nationwide "Swim Across America" initiative, which helps to raise money for cancer research and treatment through swimming-related events.
